About Me
My name is Dr. Sara McClure, and I have a PhD in Musicology from the University of Kansas, plus other degrees in music and history from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, East Carolina University, and the College of William & Mary. My grandmother, Annamae, always said I’d be a perpetual student, and, well… she was right!
โ
I served as the musicologist-in-residence for Midwest Chamber Ensemble for over a decade, and have given countless pre-concert talks for their performances and to other groups. I absolutely love teaching anyone with musical curiosity about what they’re going to hear, and make it a point to speak to a broad audience, not just the experts.
โ
I have traveled to the UK and Europe on ten different adventures involving thirteen countries, including studying abroad in Bath, England, a three-week choir tour to Eastern Europe, and two month-long stints in my favorite city in the world (so far): Paris.

Our Mission
Our intended audience is anyone who loves classical music. You do not have to be a musician (professional or amateur) to attend, but professionals have loved our trips as well! The itinerary will include 3–5 concerts, depending on location and schedules.
โ
I am your on-site tour guide, providing context for the places we visit and the music we hear in concerts. I have been giving pre-concert talks for over a decade, and I enjoy educating and entertaining a broad audience.
โ
We strive to make our trips as accessible as possible. We can’t control the price of airfare, but we can be cost-effective in other ways. This is not luxury travel—we are not seeking out 5-star hotels and restaurants—but we won’t be staying in hostels or way outside of town!
โ
We limit our groups to 10–15 to maintain flexibility and a personalized experience, with private drivers to take us to sites you might not normally get to visit. We also want to provide support for travelers who may not have been abroad before!

Have Kids, Will Travel
I grew up fortunate enough to have parents that have always made travel a priority in our lives. From an early age, they took my brother and me on trips all around the country and, eventually, the world. Most of our trips when we were small were to locations within the United States, but the more we ventured out, the more confident we became in our flexibility.
โ
Thanks in large part to my parents, I have been to 48 of the 50 states and over 25 countries. Even to this day, we continue to travel together, going on exciting multi-generational trips with our own children now in tow.
โ
Our experiences as kids help to shape us as adults. Many of my travel-based experiences as a child formed my decisions about college, studying abroad, and also obtaining a Master's Degree in Intercultural Communication. Seeing life through the lens of another culture is essential for developing a broader perspective on human similarities and differences. When we experience first hand how the other half lives, when we find things to love and appreciate even amongst those who are very different from us, it becomes increasingly difficult to ostracize or marginalize them.
โ
For this reason, I have a desire to encourage everyone to get out there and travel. See the world, see the world around you in new ways, and see yourself through the eyes of another culture.
